The National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) in collaboration with the county department of environment has embarked on a crackdown on plastic bags in Migori County.
The county NEMA officer Mr. James Siaji said the crackdown which began last week is still on warning the members of public still using the plastic bags.
Mr. Sijai said they have noted an increase in the use of plastic bags despite a ban being in place.
The county director NEMA said they have brought on board officers from the county department of environment and security officers to help fight the use of plastic bags.
He said members of the public should understand that plastic bags degrade the environment and therefore they should stop the use for their own benefit.
